It is not surprising that major class of biomaterials is represented by calcium phosphate ceramics, for they possess similar composition to the mineral phase of bone. In this work a novel bioceramic containing silica is developed, and its composition, structure, mechanical, thermal, in vitro and in vivo performance is studied. The results reveled fast material degradation and high osteoconductive rate at the implantation site.
