TY - BOOK AU - Rao, Yongchen PY - 2025 DA - 2025// TI - Design and fabrication of thermoelectric generators for implantable medical devices PB - Universität Rostock CY - Germany; Rostock AB - Implantable medical devices (IMDs) are limited by battery life. This thesis investigates implantable thermoelectric generators (ITEGs) that convert body heat into electricity for self-sustaining IMDs. A novel design using a biocompatible PEEK housing with integrated heat conductors was proposed. Comprehensive simulations employed simplified and detailed human models to optimize performance. For fabrication, a novel method created TEGs with high-aspect-ratio thermolegs, maximizing power. A compact TEG with an integrated boost converter was also developed.
