TY - BOOK AU - Prüter, Julia PY - 2022 DA - 2022// TI - Phosphorus speciation in soil and sediment indicating transformation processes from terrestrial to aquatic ecosystems PB - Universität Rostock CY - Rostock AB - Phosphorus (P) is indispensable for organisms but also contributes to eutrophication in aquatic ecosystems. The objective of the work was to characterize P speciation and transformation at boundaries between land and sea. Samples were analyzed by sequential P fractionation, P X-ray absoprtion near edge structure spectroscopy and 31P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Results confirmed a transition from labile Fe- and Al P in terrestrial soils towards stable Ca-P in aquatic sediments. To protect aquatic ecosystems from further P inputs, sinks for P have to be preserved.
