However, to advance its effectiveness, researchers need to gain a better understanding of the action mechanism by means of in vivo and in silico studies. This thesis presents neural activation patterns theoretically beneficial for motor improvement in PD and analyzes their theoretical reproducibility in a rat brain. Besides, it elucidates biophysical and computational problems to be addressed in order to optimize animal studies and avoid misconceptions when transferring experimental findings to clinical trials.
