The present work focusses on heteroaromatic alpha silanes that have thus far not been described or studied in detail. Synthesis strategies through Grignard and palladium assisted reactions forming these silanes were explored and optimised. Additionally, previously not described intermediates of the catalytic reaction were studied. The physicochemical properties of novel heteroaromatic alpha silanes were researched. The silanes were used in the formation of telechelic polymers and the targeted formation of resins. Their respective hydrolysis rates were assessed through time resolved rheologic measurements. Upscale reactions forming novel alpha silanes were conducted, followed by the use in industrially relevant one component room temperature vulcanising silicone formulations.<eng>
