In this work, electric fields are applied in the vicinity of MG-63 osteoblast-like cells to study their morphology, cell alignment and guided migration mainly via Scanning Ion Conductance Microscopy (SICM) and optical microscopy. As shown for microcontact printed molecules stripes, representing zeta potential landscapes on glass substrates, the cells align along the structures. We attribute this cell response to double-sided cathodotaxis due to local electric fields occurring at the glass-molecule transition site.<eng>
