  <abstract type="Summary">Molecular simulations are vital in chemistry but underutilized in environmental studies due to soil complexity. My habilitation thesis bridges this gap by investigating phosphorus (P) binding in soil through computational chemistry. It models interactions with organic matter, metal ions, and minerals, revealing key factors affecting P availability. It introduces smart fertilizers at a molecular level, optimizing nutrient release and soil quality based on soil and crop needs. It also highlights modeling challenges, advocating interdisciplinary approaches for soil fertility and sustainability.&lt;eng&gt;</abstract>
  <abstract type="Summary">Molekulare Simulationen sind in der Chemie unverzichtbar, aber in Umweltstudien aufgrund der Bodenkomplexität kaum genutzt. Meine Habilitationsschrift schließt diese Lücke durch die Untersuchung der Phosphor-(P)-Bindung im Boden mittels computergestützter Chemie. Sie modelliert Wechselwirkungen mit organischer Substanz, Metallionen und Mineralien und zeigt Schlüsselfaktoren der P-Verfügbarkeit. Erstmals werden intelligente Düngemittel auf molekularer Ebene vorgestellt, um Nährstofffreisetzung und Bodenqualität gezielt zu optimieren und nachhaltige Landwirtschaft zu fördern.&lt;ger&gt;</abstract>
