  <abstract type="Summary">Our work investigates mesoscale energy cascades at UTLS altitudes using a mechanistic GCM. Results are twofold: 1) SIC is fulfilled for the 1st time in a GCM for turbulent diffusion of horizontal sensitive heat and momentum. 2) Spectral budget analysis showed that simulated KE and APE spectra can be explained by SMT theory extended by GW energetics. Such that on aver SMT is a result of the energy deposited by superposed saturated GWs. Also, energy deposition of GWs is not captured unless SIC is fulfilled.&lt;eng&gt;</abstract>
  <abstract type="Summary">Unsere Arbeit untersucht mesoskalige Energiekaskaden in UTLS-Höhen mithilfe eines mechanistischen GCM. Die Ergebnisse sind zweifach: 1) SIC wird zum ersten Mal in einem GCM für die turbulente Diffusion horizontaler empfindlicher Wärme und Impulse erfüllt. 2) Die Spektralbudgetanalyse zeigte, dass simulierte KE- und APE-Spektren durch die um GW-Energetik erweiterte SMT-Theorie erklärt werden können. So dass SMT im Durchschnitt das Ergebnis der Energie ist, die von überlagerten gesättigten GWs deponiert wird. Außerdem wird die Energiedeposition von GWs nicht erfasst, wenn SIC ist nicht erfüllt.&lt;ger&gt;</abstract>
