The swimming crab morphotype differs from many other representatives of true crabs (Brachyura) by features that enable them to swim in a unique manner. In this work, it is shown that the morphotype differs from non-swimming crabs also by its internal anatomy. A morphological reconstruction of the ancestors comes to the conclusion that the morphotype only evolved once, but has been reversed in several cases to forms that can not swim.<eng>
