Die Kunstaugensammlung der Universitätsaugenklinik Rostock hat nicht nur eine relevante Bedeutung für die Geschichte der Rostocker Ophthalmologie, sondern auch für die ophthalmologische Wissenschaft des 19. Jahrhunderts. 132 pathologische Befunde des vorderen Augenabschnitts wurden in der Sammlung visualisiert. Zurück geht sie auf die Arbeit der Augenärzte K. W. v. Zehender und A. Angelucci und beruht zum Teil auf dem Atlas der Augenheilkunde von A. P. Demours. Gleichfalls spiegelt die Sammlung Fragestellungen und Entwicklungen in der Augenheilkunde Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts wider.<ger>
The collection of artificial eyes of the University Medicine of Rostock does not only represent the history of ophthalmology in Rostock but has also been of relevance for the ophthalmological science in the 19th century. 132 pathologies of the anterior segment of the eye were visualised within the collection. Partly based on the atlas of ophthalmology by A. P. Demours, the collection is also connected to the scientific work of the ophthalmologists K. W. v. Zehender and A. Angelucci. Thus, the collection reflects both challenges and developments of ophthalmology in the mid 19th century.<eng>
