It also went further into the histories, politics and economies of both Lagos state and Berlin for in-depth understanding of these cities. Overpopulation has been a major challenge in Lagos state which has led to an unfavourable standard of living in the state such as the development of slums, congestion of people in a specific area, bad transportation means, lack of electricity, poor Housing, poverty, lack of adequate employment and many more. This Research was able to analyse the causes, problem and possible solutions of overpopulation in Lagos state as compared to Berlin which is a state in Federal republic of Germany. The causes of overpopulation in the state includes immigration, employment, infrastructural services, poverty, industrialisation, education, religion, rural-urban migration, market, fertility rate in Lagos and lack of skilled labour. While the problems of Overpopulation in the state includes urban decay, hunger, housing, lack of electricity, congestion, overcrowded schools, crime, High demands of goods, administration, beggars and urban planning. The possible solutions on how to curb this problem of overpopulation in the state could be corruption, agriculture, housing and greenery, transportation, urban planning, recycling, research institutes, job and electricity, re-grouping of industries, education, and sustainability. Finally, Recommendations were also offered on how to improve the existing conditions of both Lagos state and Berlin for adequate sustainable growth.
