Fak., Diss., 2014 %X The periodontal pocket is characterized by varying oxygen partial pressures and an omnipresence of various bacterial species. Patients with periodontitis suffer from an opportunistic infection leading to a progressive loss and resulting in the loss of teeth. Application of stem cells could be a promising strategy for the periodontal regeneration. During the infection, PMNs are the first cells to be recruited.
