Fak., Diss., 2012 %X The dynamics of internal wave motions and their relation to mixing were investigated with a high-resolution data set from two cruises in the Baltic Sea. In the absence of tides, the basin-scale energetics were governed by wind-generated, low-mode, near-inertial wave motions. A large storm increased the energy in the entire internal wave frequency range, especially near the buoyancy frequency. This thesis shows that internal waves were energetic at a wide range of frequencies and the main mixing mechanism in the interior of the deep Baltic Sea basin. %L UT 3000 %9 theses %9 Text %9 Hochschulschrift %U http://rosdok.uni-rostock.de/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:de:gbv:28-diss2013-0091-0 %U http://rosdok.uni-rostock.de/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:de:gbv:28-diss2013-0091-0&pdf %U http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:gbv:28-diss2013-0091-0
