C57BL/6J mice randomly underwent a BDL or Sham surgery or were used as controls. Metabolism, inflammatory markers, fractional protein synthesis rate, muscle function and gene expression were assessed. Sarcopenia occurs early, and involves systemic inflammation, a catabolic state, reduced protein synthesis and degradation of muscle proteins. Malnutrition and sarcopenia are present in parallel in, and that they trigger each other in a sort of vicious circle. %L 610 %9 theses %9 Text %9 Hochschulschrift %R 10.18453/rosdok_id00005753 %U https://purl.uni-rostock.de/rosdok/id00005753 %U https://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:gbv:28-rosdok_id00005753-8 %U https://d-nb.info/1416682082/34 %U https://doi.org/10.18453/rosdok_id00005753
