Transformation with Agrobacterium tumefaciens and Agrobacterium rhizogenes resulted in transgenic lines with secondary mutations and lower levels of CENH3. Transient transformation of carrot protoplasts with CRISPR/Cas9 ribonucleoprotein complexes (RNPs) resulted in transgene-free and mutated protoplasts.
