Based on high-resolution models, the interplay of DWLs with surface waves and fronts is investigated. The impact of rain, cold pools and wind bursts on the ocean surface layer is analysed and feedback mechanisms with the atmosphere are highlighted. DWLs are shown to significantly modify the distribution of momentum, energy and tracers in the ocean and impact on the heat flux exchange with the atmosphere. %L 530 %9 theses %9 Text %9 Hochschulschrift %R 10.18453/rosdok_id00005110 %U https://purl.uni-rostock.de/rosdok/id00005110 %U https://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:gbv:28-rosdok_id00005110-3 %U https://d-nb.info/1390450139/34 %U https://doi.org/10.18453/rosdok_id00005110
