Rewetting peatlands can reduce GHG emissions and provide income options. A dynamic archetype analysis shows that site-specific measures could improve the resilience of farms. German peatland protection policy is identified as a ‘wicked problem’, with barriers that highlight the gap between its importance and conservation efforts.
