Four new 1-metallacyclobuta-2,3-dienes were synthesized and fully characterized. Solid state NMR and EPR spectroscopy, as well as cyclic voltammetry were used for the first time on these complexes to gain a better understanding of the nature of these complexes. The second part of this thesis focuses on synthesis, characterization and reactivity towards carbodiimides.
