Characterization techniques informed adsorption mechanisms. VPum removed110 mg/kg, VSco 22 mg/kg. Zirconium-coated adsorbents, Zr – Pu (225 mg/kg) and ZrOCSc (58 mg/kg), enhance fluoride adsorption. Models predicted upscaling without the need for more experiments. Volcanic rocks, natural or modified, can efficiently remove fluoride in fixed-bed adsorption columns. Research on competing ions and adsorbent regeneration is crucial for sustainable groundwater defluoridation. %L 620 %9 theses %9 Text %9 Hochschulschrift %R 10.18453/rosdok_id00004520 %U https://purl.uni-rostock.de/rosdok/id00004520 %U https://nbn-resolving.org/urn:nbn:de:gbv:28-rosdok_id00004520-9 %U https://d-nb.info/1316860795/34 %U https://doi.org/10.18453/rosdok_id00004520
