Erfolgreiche Selbstorganisation hängt maßgeblich von administrativer Kompetenz, Infrastruktur und stabilen Marktbeziehungen ab.<ger> This thesis examines collective self-organisation among smallholder cocoa producers in Costa Rica in response to limited state support. Based on qualitative fielwork in three regions, it reveals significant regional differences in organisational consolidation, governance capacity, and market integration. While cultural indentity supports cooperaion, economiv upgrading remains constrained.
