In Mytilus edulis, we tested whether sperm ATP comes mainly from oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and how parental hypoxia/anoxia and seawater temperature/salinity affect sperm and fertilization. OXPHOS was the main ATP source for motility. Parental anoxia lowered mitochondrial ATP capacity and coupling; hypoxia/anoxia increased mitochondrial ROS. Heat reduced respiratory efficiency and raised ROS; salinity effects were small. Sperm mitochondria were resilient; reproduction likely limited by gametes/embryos, not sperm metabolism.", school="Universit{\"a}t Rostock", note="vorgelegt von Hui Kong", note="Enth{\"a}lt Zeitschriftenartikel", note="GutachterInnen: Inna Sokolova (University of Rostock, Institute of Biological Sciences) ; Carlo Pretti (University of Pisa, Department of Veterinary Sciences)", note="Dissertation Universit{\"a}t Rostock 2025 Kumulative Dissertation", doi="10.18453/rosdok_id00005649", url="https://purl.uni-rostock.de/rosdok/id00005649", url="https://doi.org/10.18453/rosdok_id00005649", language="English" }
